Last night we hosted our annual Blue and Gold Banquet event, which is a time when we recognize scouts that have earned their ranks and other achievements. Blue and Gold is held in February, which is the anniversary month of when Boy Scouts was founded in the United States. Last night we honored our scouts and leaders during this event for all the hard work they have put in to this scouting year. Scouts have until June 1 to earn their rank badges, so no worries if your scout did not get rank last night, they have a couple of more months to finish any lingering requirements!
We had several special guests last night. We had leaders from Troop 65 in attendance to speak on the troop program. We also had members of the Order of the Arrow (OA) program in attendance to help with the Arrow of Light Presentation. The Order of the Arrow group is the Honor society of the Boy Scout program. Scouts are voted into this group by their peers after they have completed so many steps as a Boy Scout. Once they are nominated, they then have to preform an "Ordeal" in order to be accepted into the group. So last night was a huge honor to have a few members of this group present at our event. Order of the Arrow is one of the only organizations where voters who are not in the organization actually vote future members into its' organization. They provide countless service hours to our community
Thanks to the scouts for all their hard work and keep up the great work. Thanks to all the leaders without your help their would not be a Blue and Gold Banquet! Thanks to all the scouts who participated in the cake bake and made our desserts for last night event. I have posted pictures on the website that we took last night! If you took pictures last night I ask that you share those on our Facebook page so that I can capture those for our pack scrapbook.
Also, last night I showed a slide show of pictures of John Pasour our former Cub Master, I have posted that on our website for anyone who would like to download
