Happy Father's Day
Twilight camp was held this past week and seven scouts from Pack 65 attended this event. Lots of fun with BB and archery each night, the younger scouts spent craft time building space derby rockets to go with the "Flight" theme. We had one night for fishing and on Friday night CiCi's provided dinner. Thanks to the parents of Pack 65 who helped Travis with this important District event. If you are interested in helping at the Cub-O-Ree in October, let Travis know. This should be the last time he serves as the Camp Director. Our Webelos are at Webelos camp this week. We hope that all the scouts and parents will find ways to stay cool. Have a great safe week!. Next weekend we will host our first ever Cub Scout Yearly Planning meeting and we have lots of topics to discuss for the upcoming year. We would like to have at least one parent from each family attend this very important meeting. We will provide a dinner and this event will happen at the Boy Scout Hut from 2-6PM on Sunday. If you plan toattend please sign up so we can gather items for dinner. Deadline is June 25th. Come with ideas and thoughts on how we can build Pack 65. Please check out the website for all the events we have planned this summer, some events may be cancelled if we do not get enough people to sign up for them, so it is very important to sign up early and commit to being present or you can call us if that makes it easier. In our newsletter we talked about important items a scout could earn> I just wanted to take time to remind parents of the first one. The Summertime Pack Award has 3 parts to it. First, is for the pack to plan 3 events for the summer that take place during the months that the kids are not in school. Second, is the den participation which means that each den can earn a special ribbon if each den plans an event and they get at least 50% participation. Lastly, is the scout Summertime Pack Award, which means that the scout must attend one event per month during the summer to earn this pin. For the scout there are more options to earn this, it can be attending Twilight or Webelos Camp, or the Burlington Royals baseball games, both items that are being put on by the District. The scout can also earn it by taking the NOVA classes Brandon will offer or one of our hiking events. Also, you could've started earning it by attending the End of the Year Party which was the Pack’s first event, you also have the Triangle Sportplex for Ice Skating, Crabtree’s house for pot-luck picnic, or Putt-Putt. As you can see we've tried to offer many opportunities this summer to keep our scouts involved.
Hope you are having a great start to the summer.
