Cub Scouts in Action!
Last Sunday we had a few scouts show up at AWE to help pick up trash. They collected several bags of trash! Thanks for all your hard work! Yesterday we had 7 scouts show up for a great Hike next to the Eno River. We did a 1.2 mile loop on the Cole Mill trail that kept us close to the river. We got to see turtles sunning in the river on a log as we walked! Great day to be outside! Also yesterday, the Old North State Council hosted Women in Scouting Alliance. Saturday was just the start of what they hope will be a great addition to the overall scouting program. They are still working to develop what will be the goal of this group, but they need help in several committees from fundraising to marketing the scouting program, if you are interested in helping serve, let me know and I will pass your name along. Families are starting to sign up for camping on April 17-19. We hope we will have many families join us. This should be a nice relaxed weekend. The scouts will shoot either BB or archery in the morning hours for 1 hour and 45 minutes. The they will do the opposite in the afternoon for the same length of time. In the down time, they are welcome to fish or explore Camp Woodfield. If you have not camped with us then there are a couple of forms that you need to fill out before you can camp. Remember the deadline to sign up ( for this event is March 31, 2015. Also remember the council is offering BALOO training which is basically an introduction to camping. It is a great class for anyone new to camping. I know we already have 3 parents signed up to take the BALOO class. We would like to have more if any are interested! Here is where you sign up for the class
Lastly, each summer our Bears and Webelos I can attend Webelos camp for a week at Camp Woodfield. To attend this event they have to take a swim test before attending to determine how well they can swim. We generally host our own swim test with Troop 65 at a local gym's pool. The pack use to have one person certified to run the test and the troop had one, the pack no longer has anyone in this role. If you are willing to take the training here is the information on it. 2015 Swim and Water Rescue Class 3/28/2015 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. Last Day to Register is 3/20/2015 11:30 P.M.
