Shooting Sports Weekend at Camp Woodfield
Pack 65 enjoyed lots of fun this weekend at Camp Woodfield. The scouts were able to fish, shoot BB guns and archery. The parents enjoyed time together over the campfire and cooking, and all enjoyed the new cooking griddle station. Thanks to all the parents who chipped in and helped direct scouts. If you have any pictures from the event, either send them to me or post them on the Cub Scout Pack 65 facebook page. I am adding pictures to the pack website and will include them in the pack scrapbook. Click here to view pictures from this weekend (http://www.pack65nc.com/shooting-weekend-camp-woodfield.html)
Pinewood Derby
This weekend is our Pinewood Derby event and I know our scouts are very excited. Remember the scouts who participated in the Scouting for Food program or when we did our food drive for SAFE may participate in our practice Friday night. We will setup at 6:30 with scouts to start practice at 7PM we should be finished at 8PM. The practice will allow those scouts to weigh their cars and run them down the track a couple of times. For all other scouts we plan to open the doors on Saturday at 9:30 for check-in. Our goal is to start racing by 10AM and hope to be finished by Noon. We do ask that somewhere on the car you have the scout's name listed. Upon arrival we will have the inspection station, which is where the scouts car will be fitted with a template and weighed. If they do not meet specs, the car can be taken to the pit area where minor repairs can be done before going through inspection again. Once a car passes inspection, it can no longer be handled by the scout or a guardian until racing. So make sure when you get to the inspection station that you are completely done with the car. We need every scout that plans to participate to sign up, so I can get certificates printed for each scout and patches ordered. Remember this is a long event, so we are asking each scout family to bring some drinks and snacks for the event! Click here to sign up for the event and snack items (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/168HACv72fEHQnVzdIrEW_NVpDjTKMVFu9tx2N0X-1Zg/edit?usp=sharing) . LET'S GO RACING BOYS! Fishing Rodeo - Save the date of May 9th as our pack has been invited to a fishing rodeo at the Alamance Wildlife Club on Hwy 87 South. It will start that morning around 9am and finish around 12 noon. Lunch will be provided. This is a free event. An additional shooting sports (archery) very similar to this one will be conducted in early June, so stay tuned for more details. Yours in Scouting, Lisa
